Question 1

Is WatchFrame free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Search, episode and season tracking, reviews, comments, daily streaks, achievements, the home-screen widgets, Live Activity and the AI assistant (3 messages a day) are free. The free plan includes up to 10 custom lists, 5 shows in Watching Now and 500 items in each default list. WatchFrame Pro removes those limits and adds Smart Mood recommendations, detailed watching statistics, an assistant that knows your library (30 messages a day) and an exclusive Pro badge.

Question 2

How is WatchFrame different from Letterboxd or Trakt?

Accepted Answer

You do not have to choose: WatchFrame imports your history from Letterboxd, IMDb, Trakt and Simkl, with a preview first and a one-tap undo. What it adds is tracking what you are watching right now: episode and season progress, watch sessions on your Lock Screen with Live Activity, Home Screen widgets, an assistant that finds a title from a description (and, with Pro, knows your library), plus statistics and monthly Recaps, all in one app.

Question 3

Can WatchFrame find a movie from a description?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the movie assistant, describe a scene, a plot point or even just a vibe (“a man takes a red pill and wakes up in a pod”), and it suggests the titles that fit best, ranked by how strong the match is. Every suggestion is verified against The Movie Database, so you get real films and shows with posters and details, never an invented one.

Question 4

What can the AI movie assistant do, and is it Pro-only?

Accepted Answer

Free: identify a film or show from a description and recommend what to watch (3 messages a day). Pro: everything in Free, plus questions about your own library, such as how many films you watched in a year, your watch time, favourite genres, what you are in the middle of, your level and streak, with up to 30 messages a day. The assistant only proposes changes: adding a title to a list, rating a film or creating a list shows the usual WatchFrame form or button, and nothing is saved until you tap it yourself.

Question 5

Can I move my history from Letterboxd, IMDb, Trakt or Simkl?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Go to Profile → Edit profile → Import from other apps and pick your export file (Letterboxd ZIP, IMDb CSV, Trakt or Simkl JSON, or any CSV with a title column). WatchFrame matches every title, shows you a preview of exactly what will be added, and only writes after you confirm. Every import can be undone with one tap.

Question 6

Can I track TV show episodes, seasons, and live sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Log exact seasons and episodes, hours and minutes watched, and start a live watching session that you can play, pause or stop right from your Lock Screen with iOS Live Activity or a Home Screen widget.

Question 7

What are Daily Streaks, XP and the leaderboard?

Accepted Answer

Every day you log a watch session or write a review, you build your Daily Streak, earn XP, unlock achievement badges, and level up your profile. Your history is also visualised in a watching heatmap on the Statistics tab. A leaderboard and global averages show how your watch time, streak and XP compare with the rest of the community.

Question 8

How do I sign in, how safe is my data, and can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Sign in with Apple, Google or an email address (confirmed with a one-time code). Your email address and the tokens of connected accounts are stored encrypted, passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form, and we do not sell your personal information. To answer, the assistant sends your messages (and, when you ask about your own library, the relevant titles and numbers) to a third-party AI provider, without your email address. Chats are kept in your account until you delete one or all of them. You can change your email, unlink connected accounts or permanently delete your account and all of its data, including assistant chats, from the app settings at any time. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Question 9

Where does the movie data come from?

Accepted Answer

Movie, TV show and cast information, posters and streaming availability come from The Movie Database (TMDB). WatchFrame is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Question 10

When will the WatchFrame app launch?

Accepted Answer

WatchFrame is in active development, iOS first with Android to follow, and we are opening the TestFlight beta in waves. Leave your email in the form below to be among the first invited.
